The story
Inspired by a period Cuervo y Sobrinos watch, an Art Deco design of 1935, the aptly named Robusto 1935 is a modern reinterpretation of the former classic. The styling of this latest model doffs its hat to its antecedent of the 30s while simultaneously appearing contemporary.
Likewise, this new watch befits a casual lifestyle but also looks at ease when paired with formal attire. Quite simply, the new Robusto 1935 is an accomplished all-rounder, ideally suited to daily wear.
Offered in a choice of four dial colours, namely Habana, Ceniza, Azul Marino and Verde Manzana, the Robusto 1935 is equipped with distinctive facetted hour and minute hands lined with Super-LumiNova®. Each hour is denoted with a multi-facetted applied index, again incorporating luminescent treatment.
Day or night, the dial is a paragon of lucidity. A slender central seconds hand converses with a track located on the dial flange, while the date, presented at 6 o’clock, is framed with octagonally-shaped brightwork. The dial sits beneath an optimally shaped double curved sapphire crystal that drinks in light, again aiding legibility.
The Robusto 1935 features a stainless steel case measuring 40mm in diameter. Its intricately contoured housing is enriched with a combination of polished and brushed surfaces.
Partially set in a recessed section of the caseband, the screw-in crown helps ensure the watch is water resistant to 100m.
A 3-rows stainless steel bracelet, fitted with a folding clasp, secures the watch to the wrist.
The highly versatile Cuervo y Sobrinos Robusto 1935 honours the company’s heritage and is inspired by Cuba’s rich history. It is made adjacent the shores of Lake Lugano and is imbued with a sizeable dose of Swiss watchmaking expertise.
This watch is the best of both worlds or, as we prefer to say at Cuervo y Sobrinos, ‘Born in Havana. Crafted in Switzerland.’
